This was the first editorial I tried to do and submit.
At the time I knew I wanted to collaborate with a fashion design student from the college where I was doing my masters (I started planning as soon as I submitted my dissertation in November 2019). I looked for someone who was interested in demonstrating their work in a session completely focused on the concept of their creations (because I also wanted to give that visibility to the creator) and challenge myself to create something completely out of my comfort zone, since the initial idea would not leave my head.
After some posts on social media and talking to some people, I found Catarina who has a mind that I was automatically fascinated with. Despite completely different aesthetics we ended up working really well together - while Catarina has a dark and moody aesthetic, I personally always find myself leaning more towards a more romantic side - as we both found we love imagery and fantasy.
From there "Asylum Insight" was born where we used the same concept that Catarina created for the pieces that were photographed. Although we had the work ready we only decided to submit it in February and it was published in Lucy's Magazine this month - you can see the publication here.
Probably the most different work I have ever done in many ways, but one of my favourites so far.
